Section 40E Permit (Formerly Section 20a Permit) For Metal DetectingHere's how you can easily apply for a Section 40E Permit (Formerly Section 20a Permit) to go Metal Detecting and Prospecting legally on ALREADY GRANTED Exploration Leases in Western Australia.
The terminology for the Section 20a permit system was changed to a Section 40E permit from 2nd February 2013.
Although there is no major changes to the rules, the forms and reference names have changed so where you see a reference to Section 20a Permit on the website read "Section 40E Permit" until all the terminology is changed.
This is very important to know because much of Western Australia is taken up by Mining Companies with Exploration Leases, and as you know, you cannot go prospecting on those leases without permission OR Section 40E Permit (Formerly Section 20a Permit) approval..
