There Has Been Interest in Geomap Training

As I mentioned in my last newsletter, At the end of March 2026 the DMERS GeoMap WA Program is changing.

All the datum for the maps will be changing from GDA94 to GDA 2020.

The new co-ordinate system is provided in the settings of GeoMap Vs 1.10.1.0 of course and you can download that from the DMERS Data and Software Centre (DASC) website.

What Does Geomap Going to GDA2020 at the end of MARCH 2026 Mean for your GDA96 Saved MAPS AND DATA??

What do the changes mean to you - Particularly if you are using GeoMap version 1.9.10 which does not have the GDA2020 Project Coordinate settings.

I was asked that question a few weeks ago remembering that many people have heaps of WA Topographical and Geological maps saved on their PC.

The key issue is of course that GDA2020 data (such as tenements) will not be able to be used on versions of Geomap prior to GeoMap vs 1.10.1.0. Such as in Version 1.9.10.

Because it simply does not have the settings available in the Project Properties!

I have some people interested already, so if you are interested please tell me and I will build it.

Otherwise I will not spend the time to rebuild the training.

You will NOT be able to use GeoMap version 1.9.10 with GDA 1994 maps and data in the GDA2020 datum like, - Tenements, or - Minedex,

from the 1st of April due to the inability to set GDA2020 in your Project Settings for Projected Co-ordinates.

If there is sufficient interest I will be rebuilding the whole GeoMap training related to GDA2020, which will include.

• The new software,
• The new maps,
• How to use them, to find gold.
• How to use them with layers like Native Title and other geological sets,
• and an automatic download tenements APP to go with it.
